Spiritual Practices for Stressful Times

Simple and practical spiritual practices such as prayer and meditation help to bring us back to our center during stressful times. Breath work is one of the most helpful ways to calm the body's stress response. Creating a pause in your routine can also help switch the fight/flight response to rest/digest.

 

Expanding Lung Capacity

This breathing exercise is based on a Feldenkrais breathing technique to expand your lung capacity. Just notice your lungs filling and emptying, without forcing the breath or trying to count. Follow your natural breathing rhythm.

Healthy Lungs, Happy Heart

In March 2020, Deanna began a self study on alternative and holistic practices around the world that boost the body’s immune response, improve respiratory health and balance the body’s natural flows of energy based on a 5 Element Acupressure model. Many of these practices have ongoing research and current data collection that will validate alternative medicine as an effective way to improve lung and heart health. She shared her findings in this 60 minute webinar for the Soul Lightening Acupressure community in April 2020.

BeWell Decks

It began with a simple way to share a home exercise program with Breast Cancer clients who were simply too exhausted to do anything some days. Deanna created a list of activities on index cards for body, mind and soul to inspire women to take time for self care. Each day the women would draw a card or two from the pile and by the end of the week have a tangible stack of activities they did for their own health and well being. This became the inspiration for the BeWell Decks.
